Atmosphere · Effective July 2026

Atmosphere is a private sensory journal made by MoFinicka LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. The short version: we collect only what's needed to run your account and save your journal, we don't sell your data, and your logs stay private unless you explicitly share them.

What we collect

You provide

  • Account email and username
  • Journal entries — titles, vibes, notes, weather and beverage tags, why-now and with-whom labels, and related details you log
  • Moment photos, if you choose to add them
  • Queue items (things you've saved to log later)

Collected automatically

  • Subscription and trial status, via Apple (and, on Android when released, Google Play) and RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. We receive transaction status — not your payment card details, which we never see.
  • Basic technical information needed to operate the Service, such as device type and app version, and standard server logs (including IP address) generated when the app communicates with our servers.
  • Approximate location when you allow it — used only to resolve local weather, time of day, and season at log time. We store coarse place labels and weather conditions on your private journal, not precise coordinates. Place and ambient Outside context stay on your Gallery only — they are never included in Discover. Declining location does not block logging.

Photo metadata: Photos from your camera or library can contain embedded metadata (such as the date taken or GPS). When you add a Moment photo, we re-encode it before storage so embedded location is not retained in the stored cover. We use only the photos you choose to add.

We do not collect your contacts, background location, or anything from your photo library beyond the specific photos you pick.

How we use it

We use your information solely to operate and improve Atmosphere: authenticate your account, store and sync your journal, display your Gallery, power search and export, process your subscription, respond to support requests, and keep the Service secure. We do not use your journal content for advertising, and we do not train AI models on your private entries.

What we don't do

  • No public social feed of your private notes. Your logs are private by default.
  • Share to Discover is opt-in and anonymous. If you turn it on, the collective moodboard shows the media cover and structured vibe context (atmosphere, and when present weather, drink, Why now) — not your name, profile, place label, ambient Outside line, people tags, or coordinates. Your journal note appears only if you separately opt that Polaroid’s note in (off by default).
  • No selling personal data. We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their advertising. We have not sold personal information and have no plans to.

Who we share with (service providers only)

We use a small set of vendors to run the Service, each processing data only on our behalf:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage (hosting your account and journal)
  • Apple / Google Play — subscription billing
  • RevenueCat — subscription status management
  • Apple iTunes Search (albums), Wikipedia (films), Open Library, and Google Books — when you search, your query is sent to the relevant service to return titles and cover art. These queries aren't tied to your journal identity by us.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or the Service. If MoFinicka LLC is ever acquired or merged, your data may transfer as part of that transaction — this policy (or one at least as protective) would continue to apply, and we'd notify you.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete a log, it's removed from your journal; when you delete your account, we permanently delete your profile, logs, queue, and photos. Residual copies may persist briefly in routine encrypted backups and are purged on a rolling basis.

Your control and rights

  • Delete individual logs in-app, anytime.
  • Export your journal as a CSV, anytime.
  • Delete your account from the Account screen — this removes your profile, logs, queue, and snapshot photos.
  • Access, correction, and deletion requests can also be made by emailing us at the address below.

Depending on where you live (including California, the EEA, and the UK), you may have additional legal rights — such as the right to know what personal information we hold, to request deletion, to correct inaccuracies, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We honor these requests regardless of where you live: email us and we'll respond within the timeframe your local law requires. California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA, so there is no need to opt out.

Children

Atmosphere is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent where you live), and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with access controls. No system is perfectly secure, so we also make export easy — your journal is always yours to take.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. The effective date at the top always reflects the current version.
